All About Us
We are a small family run business, working in association with Richard Vince’s Black Belt Academy in Norwich.

The aim of our business is to use Martial arts (primarily Muay Thai) as a method in supporting children and young people from all backgrounds and abilities to develop their personal emotional and physical well being.

Our program is designed for supporting services such as; schools, youth services, and care facilities. We will also be running a regular daytime class for individuals who are home schooled.
The program is designed to engage with individuals to help them better understand ways to identify and pro-actively manage their own negative emotions and interactions with others. Our main target audience are individuals who may be struggling with areas of their daily lives such as; those with disabilities, emotional disorders, confidence issues, victims of bullying or abuse, but it would be open to and beneficial for all.

The program can be tailor made to meet the individual’s needs/preferences and can vary in length. Alongside the martial arts the program will include educational activities and reflective exercises such as self-defense, personal safety awareness, de-escalation skills and self reflective practice. Part of this includes an exercise booklet which requires the individual to reflect on their own behavior, thoughts, feelings and abilities. This booklet would focus on specific areas such as personal reflection (one page profiles), personal development (outcome stars), respect, reliability etc. It would encompass a variety of exercises and questions that can be answered in varying format i.e. words/pictures.

As part of the course, individuals will receive rewards such as certificates and badges and upon completion of a long course (minimum of 6 hours) they will receive their first Muay Thai band. Information will also be provided on how they could continue Muay Thai if they wish.

The long term outcome of this would be that the individuals would gain a better understanding of their own negative emotional triggers and how to recognize and manage them more effectively and safely. The individuals would also gain a more positive outlook and belief in themselves thus gaining confidence and self motivation.
They would also be able to work on developing key skills such as concentration, discipline, respect and positive social interactions.

Alongside our education program we are also running an academy in Catfield Norfolk called Martin Beales's Black belt academy. The academy offers classes every Friday for anyone from 3 years old and up.

Martial arts has been proven to be an invaluable teaching method for young people and how well it can work for individuals with disabilities as the routine, physical activity and ethos used can teach valuable lessons. It can also help reduce stress and anxiety as well as behaviors that challenge as it provides a positive outlet. This is what powers our ethos and what we want to achieve. Our aim is to use Martial arts to make a difference to the people that we teach.
Meet us
Martin is the lead Muay Thai instructor. He started training in Muay Thai at the age of 8 under Dave Munro and went on to compete and win at both British and European Level. He has trained with some of the biggest names in Muay Thai including Master Sken and Ramon Dekkers. He was also fortunate enough to spend some time training in Thailand where not only did he train and compete with the local fighters but also won, a feat accomplished by only a small amount of people. Unfortunately due to a knee injury Martins fighting carer was cut short, but after many years he started training again when his son showed an interest in Martial arts and joined Richard Vince’s Black Belt Academy. Since then he has achieved his first Dan in Kickboxing and began instructing the Muay Thai classes there, for which he created the syllabus.

Martin trained as a mental health nurse although due to personal reasons never practiced. He has worked in various care sectors including mental health, children and young people, adult and elderly. He also has an extensive training background and has trained staff in numerous areas relating to care.
Jenny started training in martial arts 4 years ago beginning with Kickboxing, for which she is currently working towards her black belt. Alongside kickboxing she began learning Karate 2 years ago.

Jenny started working with young people with special needs at 19 where she worked as a teaching assistant in a special needs school. She continued to work in schools but also went to work for Scope Inclusion Norfolk who provided 1:1 or 2:1 short breaks for young people with disabilities in the community. Jenny worked here both as an includer supporting the individuals and as a manager.

We are a family business and as such our family means a lot to us. Martins Son Joel thoroughly enjoys martial arts and was awarded his junior black belt in Karate at 9. He also trains in kickboxing and Muay Thai and has competed at and won medals at world level.
In 2017 our daughter was born, she has complex medical and health difficulties and is registered disabled. She is an amazing young girl who has fought against all odds and has proven all the specialists wrong. Her strength and determination has shown and proven to us how much difference the right support can make.
